Sparkling Cold Brew Tea

Sugar free. Worry free.

What’s with adding cane sugar to products and claiming it’s a ‘natural’ sugar? As if it doesn’t count as actual sugar?

I’m Linsay and I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for ever and a day. I count carbohydrate to keep my blood sugar even and gauge how much insulin to inject. I class myself as a carb counting expert but check nutritional info for accurate amounts of sugar. Sugar is sugar my friends. Doesn’t matter how organic it is. Doesn’t matter if its raw, natural or synthetic. It affects my blood sugar and will therefore affect yours. Your body will kick in and you won’t necessarily notice how it’ll work to cope with the sugar load. I will watch mine rise from my continuous glucose monitor (hello Dexcom G7) and more than likely inject insulin. This is why I avoid sugary drinks from natural apple juice to fizzy drinks.

After a lengthy addition to Diet Coke in my teens / 20’s I gave it up. I also gave up alcohol over a decade ago (a whole separate post). I’ve reached peak sparkling water.

I want something to drink with no sugar and no UPFs  – something tasty and natural.

This was how Teto was born…

My husband and I are embarking on a journey to bring Teto to life. From our kitchen in London to the whole UK. We want to shake up the drinks industry and deliver a product that I can buy in bars, restaurants, coffee shops and at home. Well, that’s the plan. No sugar, no worries.

Follow us on the ups and downs and highs and lows (diabetics out there – you get me) to bring Teto to market.

More to come on the background to Teto and how we intend to shape the low and no / popular fizzy drinks industry.
